lots of student-written updates are coming! For now, everyone is enjoying desert in our lovely hotel. All best from Iceland!
We are all aboard and headed abroad! Everyone is in great spirits and has done a wonderful job so far. The adventure continues!
Check this space to see student-created blog posts about our upcoming trip to Iceland! We can't wait to hike glaciers, learn about geothermal energy, and enjoy the beautiful Blue Lagoon.
No matter what you got on the #APUSH exam, you have a lot to be proud of :) School wide, scores dipped. As always, some grades surprised me, but no student disappointed me. If you worked hard, gained an understanding of our shared heritage and values, and gained new analytical skills, this class was a success for you.
GHHS continued to demolish the national average :) Nationwide, 51.4% of students passed with a 3. 60.4% of GHHS students passed.
I hope you are having a lovely summer and finish your senior year strong. Be sure to stop by!
With sincere pride and affection,
Final grades are in!
First of all, some very welcome news... the "curve." The final exam ended up at a class average of 80% (up from last semester by three points!) after the curve, so great job folks!!!
Now less welcome news... It is against department policy to "bump" grades, so if your semester average dropped from one letter grade to another, there's nothing we can do, sorry. We already applied the same curve as last semester to be fair even though (as noted above) that had a more positive effect for your classes than in the fall, so at this point, things are where they are.
Now on to better news... you are done with APUSH and Junior Year!!! Have a great summer everyone and come back refreshed and energized for your senior year!
Sign-up form for Veterans to interview is HERE. There are only 7 Veterans at this point, but more are supposed to be coming in today and tomorrow! Sign-ups are first-come first-served.
Students have organized a t-shirt purchase through CustomInk. If you'd like your shirt (which you will order/pay for in early May) reserve it with this link!
Today was the last regular exam of the year! Next week Mr. Hutchison will be out Monday through Wednesday for some medical testing, but all week will be dedicated to reviewing for the AP exam next Friday!
Today was the LAST DAY of NEW CONTENT in APUSH!!! YAY!!! We wrapped up our study of US history today with some discussion over how America's past is linked to America's present, specifically focusing on how decisions made in the effort to win the Cold War helped create the factors favorable for the emergence of terror threats and international enemies.
Tomorrow will be your last regular exam of the course then next week will be all APUSH exam review, all the time as we prep for Friday, May 5!
Today we plunged headlong into Period 9 with discussions over the Iran-Contra Affair, the First Gulf War, and Clinton's impeachment. If you didn't finish the questions over the impeachment activity in class, finish it up tonight along with Chapter 32 which is due tomorrow.
One last day of new content!!!
