Today we discussed major take-away's from your summer assignments, particularly the reasons for historical difference in the three introductory chapters you read and implications to be deafen from the Silas Deane reading. We then conducted a cultural comparison exercise to help us see and analyze a familiar historical event with fresh eyes. We lastly used our analysis of some popular media to critique representations of pre-Columbian Indigenous American cultures.
For the class periods that due to fire drills, etc. did not get to finish evaluating the primary and secondary source materials related to this exercise, be sure to look those over tonight ands be prepared to discuss them in class tomorrow. Also, Chapter 2 notes are due. Below you will find the note taking guidance we offered in class. Remember, you do not have to set your textbook notes up in a four-square like the image, only that you should focus on identifying the types of information outlined in the image as you are taking notes in your preferred style. -H Comments are closed.
