Today we focused on Westward Expansion or Manifest Destiny as it played out prior to the Civil War.  We examined the painting "American Progress" by John Gast as a statement of the expansionist point of view and for our DocBlock we analyzed the article by John L. O'Sullivan which originated the term Manifest Destiny.  We finished up the day by looking at four different historical interpretation of the Mexican-American war.

Don't forget to prepare for the scored discussion tomorrow which will continue the debate over the Mexican-American War from the point of view of Howard Zinn.  All of the materials for the scored discussion are posted at the top of the Period 5 page and I am attaching the scoring rubric HERE.

Can I type and just email/share the pre-write or do I have to print it out?
