Following the Quiz over Chapters 7 & 8 today, we discussed some of the issues surrounding the representation of minority groups in the process of crafting the Constitution through letters between John and Abigail Adams.  We extended our analysis of Abigail's letter to begin developing our DBQ skills in preparation for our first full DBQ essay coming up in a couple of weeks!

At the end of class, each of you were given a name.  Tonight's homework is to :
  1. Write a brief biography of your delegate’s life and contributions PRIOR to the constitutional convention
  2. Determine what stance your delegate would likely have taken on the issues of
                a.  The makeup of and representation in the Legislative Branch
                b.  Slavery
                c.  The role and powers of the Executive Branch
       3.  Prepare a one sentence introduction of your delegate, in first person, to read at the class convention tomorrow!
Tomorrow in class we will be holding a SHORT simulation of the Constitutional Convention.  You will be expected to act IN CHARACTER as the delegate you were assigned today.  The scoring rules for your grade are:
  • Students must speak at least three times, in character.
  • Students must vote on each issue.
  • Students must be actively engaged in the simulation.

See you tomorrow!!!
