So Hurricane Matthew made things in Wake County nasty enough to keep us out of school Monday. You need to use the time tomorrow to read and take notes over the following selection from the book Natives and Strangers on Indian Relations, and to work on your textbook notes for Chapter 13 which are due Thursday.

Today we discussed the Era of Good Feelings and looked at a DBQ over that era. We also did a DocBlock over a speech by Tecumseh on land use and possession and began a chart on significant Supreme Court decisions. You can find the court cases under Period 4, SkillBlock as Marshall Court Briefs.
Make sure you take a look at the Class Calendar as well since we have shifted the due dates of a number of Chapters. You NO LONGER have FOUR chapters due next week! :) H Today we explored the Presidencies of Jefferson and Monroe and a little about the Lewis & Clark expedition and the War of 1812. Don't forget tomorrow Chapter 10 is due! Next week is the most packed week of the semester, so be planning now so you can make it happen with a minimum of stress and a maximum of success!
H Hamilton! was the order of the day today as we met in the Auditorium for a cross curricular meeting with the performing arts classes to discuss the intersection of history and art in the musical Hamilton. We discussed differing interpretations of historical material and what each presentation form brings to the table when representing historic figures and events.
Don't forget Chapter 9 is due tomorrow and Chapter 10 on Friday! H Today was our first full exam. I'm happy that everyone seemed pretty positive at the end of testing each period! We will have those grades in as soon as possible, but it will take a couple of days to read all the short answer responses, especially since we are also grading essays.
Tomorrow everyone should report to the Auditorium for class instead of the classroom. Also, don't forget Chapter 9 is due Thursday and Chapter 10 on Friday! H Today we talked about the most significant developments from Chapter 8 then spent a little time working with documents and historical evidence. We finished the day making theme posters (see below) and then talking briefly about the exam tomorrow. Tomorrow is your first exam and Thursday, Chapter 9 is due. Don't forget to bring your binders to check tomorrow! H
Today was the first in-class LEQ of the year! Mr. Richardson and I now have a LOT of grading ahead of us, so please give us a bit of time to complete that. Don't forget that Monday, Chapter 8 is due and Tuesday next week will be your first Exam!
People are already asking, so: The exam will be 55 multiple choice questions in the same format you has encountered on the quizzes, plus 2 short answers. You will have 55 minutes for the multiple choice and 22 minutes for the short answers. There will be four short answer choices, but you will only pick and answer two. The exam will cover everything we have studied to date! H Today we did one last practice thesis statement to prepare for tomorrow's in class LEQ. We then explored Washington's Presidency through some political cartoons and old fashioned notes. Tomorrow is the first in class LEQ, then Chapter 8 is due Monday, followed by the first Exam on Tuesday. I'm attaching a list of the things you should have in your binder so far this semester. The next few weeks coming up will be packed, so check out the class calendar and work out a plan now! H
Today we started with a thesis practice and then proceeded to analyze some of the speeches delivered at the New York Constitutional Ratification Convention to parse out the arguments between Federalists and Anti-Federalists. We also took a few minutes to talk about the levels of stress that come along with Junior year and APUSH. Please make sure you are making a realistic plan to accomplish what is on the schedule for the next couple of weeks as this is the peak. Things begin to ease off again after the second week of October, so there is light at the end of the tunnel!
Tonight, you need to read and take notes from the brief PowerPoint on the Three Versions of Republicanism found HERE. You also need to read the article on Republican Motherhood at THIS WEBSITE. H |
