Packed day today!

We started by talking about Mercantilism and it's effects on the colonial system. Don't forget you need to read and answer the questions from the Salutary Neglect reading in your DocBlock tonight!  You can find this document under Period Materials: Period 3.

We also worked on peer editing and development of your first thesis statements. Remember the LEGO Blocks of a good thesis for this question:
  1. It expresses COMPARISON (Similarities or differences)
  2. It expresses a HOW MUCH VALUE (Greatly, Significantly, etc)
  3. It expresses HOW (Three main points of comparison or contrast)
  4. It recognizes a counter argument (Specific!)
It is completely up to your creativity how you choose to arrange these blocks, but remember the basic rules: Past tense, 3rd person, grammatical agreement of main points.  Once you are happy with your thesis rough draft, post it as a comment on the appropriate discussion board linked below:
  • Hutchison, 2nd period
  • Hutchison, 3rd period
  • Hutchison, 4th period
  • Richardson, 1st period
  • Richardson, 2nd period
You need to post your thesis by the end of the school day FRIDAY!  Also, don't forget that the Chapter 5 notes are due tomorrow!
